Today at Lulu's Marina in Gulf Shores,AL : Jimmy Buffett along with DragonFly Boatworks donated a Brand New SWAT boat. This boat is outfitted with equipment that the US FWS will use in rescuing wildlife affected by the BP oilspill. The Boat was Donated to The Friends of The Bon Secour National Wildlife refuge. Mr. Ralph Gilges Dir. of the Friends Organization then loaned the new boat toThe US. Fish and Wildlife service.  They will use it daily to rescue wildlife affected by the BP OIlSPILL!!

Also after Robin Spoke to Mr. Gilges we've Decided that our next Lemon Aid 4 Wildlife Event will be for
The Friends of BonSecour National Wildlife Refuge who are on the Rescue Frontlines.

We had a great day today... Thanks to everyone Who came out and donated today @ the Elberta Dollar General.. Because of all of your generosity we were able to Raise $115 today. This will Come in Handy for both the Zoo and the SeaLab. We've now reached approx. $1000 in monetary donations plus an additional $200 worth of Product Donations.. We've still got a long way to go before we see the end of the need for us to have Lemon Aid 4 Wildlife events... for those of you who are unable to attend but would like to Help you can click the picture of our Stand at the top of page and be taken directly to pay pal where you can make a secure donation. Don't Forget Saturday July 17, 2010  from 9am -2pm we will be set up inside the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo  aka "The Little Zoo that Could" raising money To Help them with their newest Project they are attempting to open an OilSpill Wildlife Triage Center.. and the Donations we raise will help with the purchase of supplies for the care of wildlife affected by the BP OILSPILL..

Update: Today 7/6/10 Zoo Donation delivery

Today the kids myself and Meme.. Aka Mrs. Stevie Walker.. went to The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo and Delivered them $400 in cash donations to aid in Wildlife rescue and Clean up.  We were delighted when Mrs. Patty Executive Dir. of the Zoo brought out Luca their 5 week old baby Cappuchin Monkey for us to hold. He is adorable, and was a delight to spend time with. Here are a few pictures from our visit.

Our Next Stand will Be This Saturday @ The Dollar General in Elberta from 10a-2p.

Lemonade Stand Update:

As of yesterday we've raised aprox. $800 plus we've recieved somewhere around $100 or so of Product Donations. For those of you who aren't aware we've decided to also Partner with The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo.AKA The Little Zoo that Could!!People have donated lots of Dawn Dishsoap , Small plastic Swimming Pool, Masks, Gloves, Stockings for hair booms, Gloves, and Cooler.. the product donations are being Donated to the Gulf Coast Zoo as they are taking care of Oiled Wildlife as well. They are being Dropped off today July 2nd. We Raised $77.35 yesterday with our stand at the Foley Civic Center   during the Summer Reading Program.. Thanks everyone Keep those Donations Coming!!!! Dear Ms. Hall and staff:
The supplies delivered today to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, “The Little Zoo” That Could”, are donated by the public through the sponsorship of the Dollar General Store in Elberta, Alabama. They were given to a recently organized project called “Lemon ‘Aid’4 Wildlife” to be taken to the zoo. The lemonade stand was started by Michele Walker-Harmon with her children, Katie and Cody, as they wanted to do something to help the injured and damaged animals as a result of the horrific oil spill. The family is native to Orange Beach but now reside in Elberta. They originally designated the proceeds to go to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab Animal Rescue but have now decided to also split the proceeds with the animal rescue effort of the Zoo. There are several more lemonade stand events planned for the next few weeks in front of several Dollar General Stores in the area with permission from their corporate office. They will be held on Saturdays. We will continue to bring supplies to you as they are donated.

Our Stand in Orange Beach was great Thanks to everyone who came out today to have Lemonade and donated so generously... we raised $324 today with the Stand.. Even the mayor of Orange Beach Tony Kennon came and had lemonade and made a generous donation. Thanks Mayor Kennon

Today's lemonade stand was a success we raised aprox. $140 at the stand and received a $50 paypal donation plus the other $25 in pay pal donations  So far we've raised approx. $220. 00  We are planning another stand for next weekend. link to the event   Katy and Cody will be selling Lemonade this Sat.June 19th  from 10 am till 2pm in front of Mo's Fishing in Orange Beach, Al..  Publix has also generously donated the Lemonade for the event so a special thanks to them.  Please come out and help us raise money to Help The animals affected By BP's Oil. Also A big Thanks To Clark at Swift Supply in Orange Beach for the Drink Cooler they doanted to our Stand..  Also will have cookies for sale as well... baked by Mrs. Leroy E. My family Legacy is tied to the Gulf Of Mexico. Back in the early 1900's the Walker's along with several other families settled in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. The Walker brothers started the Charter Fishing Industry in Orange Beach. My Great grandfather helped Pioneer the Tourist industry along the South Alabama Coast. I grew up on... See More boats shrimping and fishing in the very waters that BP's Oil is now destroying. The very legacy that I had wanted my children to share has now been forever altered. My families Legacy will die right along with all the wildlife caught up in BP's Oil. I am glad that my great grand father Capt. Roy E. Walker who would have been 100 isn't alive to see his blood sweat a tears destroyed by the carelessness and negligence of a few.

So if you still aren't sure how the Oil spill will affect me personally... The Walker Family Charter Fishing Legacy is no more Orange Beach and the Beautiful Gulf Waters that surround her will now be a graveyard not only for the animals, but for the hopes and dreams of thousands of people along the Coast .  · I agree that we all must accept some responsiblity in this disaster because of our dependace on oil. However I feel the brunt of the responsibility lies at the feet of BP. Their Negligence led to this . Surviors hve reported to Anderson Cooper from CNN they were told to take short cuts the day of the explosion, By #BP officals on the rig. Now the ... See More EPA has allowed them to continue the use of Corexit 9500 which was banned from use in the UK 10 years ago, because its toxic to humans and Wildlife. This Toxic soup could possibly wipe out life as we know it in the Gulf and along our shorelines. The Brown# Pelican was just removed from the Endangered Species list Aprox. 7 months ago. Now thanks to this Spill they may become extinct. Not only will #Corexit build up in the systems of birds and other wildlife it can be passed on Generationally. The just 1 single drop of Crude oil currently washing into nesting grounds on an egg is enough to kill the chick still growing inside. The Blue Fin Tuna which most marine biologists agree are already in danger from commercial over fishing are now faced with a deadlier threat... BP's oil . The Blue Fin Tuna Spawn this time of year off the coast of LA. where the oil is currently spilling. Oh and 5 out of 7 of the worlds most endangered seaturtle species also make their homes in our coastal  waters . Sorry don't mean to rant just really passionate about our home and our wildlife. It is also causing internal bleeding in fish and " UNDERWATER PLUMES" which are depleting the oxygen in the Gulf right off of Perdido Pass!!!!
